Spared from war, the medieval city of Bayeux has preserved a rich architectural heritage. The historic, beautifully preserved, invites walkers to discover its Gothic cathedral and stroll through its narrow streets lined with old mansions and old houses with wood sides. Unmissable, the William the Conqueror Centre houses the famous Bayeux tapestry, called Queen Matilda. Made in the eleventh century, this woolen embroidery, with a length of 70 meters and a height of 50 centimeters, recounts the conquest of England by the Duke of Normandy, William the Conqueror.
Bayeux offers visitors discover its Memorial Museum Battle of Normandy which presents an exhibition on the history of this battle.
